GS1 Vibraphone

Inspired by the warm, wooden finish of the Yamaha GS1 synthesizer, this chime wall decoration is a fusion of art, engineering, and musical homage. Using Fusion360, I calculated the frequencies of each stainless-steel chime, achieving a full octave tuned to 440Hz. The chime design reflects musical structure—standard notes feature chamfered ends, while accidentals have a non-chamfered flat side and a fully-chamfered, pointed end, symbolizing their dual nature as sharps and flats. Suspended against mahogany spacers, this piece is more than a visual tribute—it’s an instrument of resonance, both in sound and history.
